When the weather outside is frightful . . .
Home > News > When the weather outside is frightful . . .Given the excitement of our local forecasters regarding the possibility of snow, it seems like a good time to remind everyone how to get information about school closures and delays should there be a blanket of white on the ground.
If TLS will not open, or will operate on a delayed schedule, we will:
1) Place a message on both school telephone lines (425-827-8708 and 425-827-4609)
2) Post a status update on www.schoolreport.org.
3) Advise the following television and radio stations before 7:00 AM: KOMO – 4, KING – 5, KIRO – 7 and KUOW 94.9 FM
4) Post information related to school closure on the school’s website.
SIGN UP and have the information come directly to you! SchoolReport.org offers a free service that will email or text school closure information directly to you. Sign up at www.schoolreport.org and you’ll receive an email or text message in the case of school closure or delay.
Our decision regarding closure or delay may differ from public schools. Because we have families and faculty travelling great distances, we must consider road conditions in addition to safety on campus when determining whether or not school will be open. Please check the above sources to verify information about The Little School.
In the event of late start: If the snow starts to fall and it looks like it will be tough to open school safely by 8:15 when teachers are expected to be at school, we will delay opening until 10. In that event, there will be no before school care or half day classes.
Stay safe on campus. Only paved pathways will be prepared for use, so please stay safe and use them. The Center and Courtyard Buildings will be open 15 minutes prior to the start of school so you have a warm place to wait.
