  Parent Association

All parents and guardians of children attending The Little School are members of the Parent Association. The Parent Association supports the Head of School and the Board of Trustees in fulfilling the school's mission by:

  • Serving as a communication link for and among parents/guardians and the faculty, staff, and Board of Trustees

  • Organizing and promoting special events that build and strengthen the Little School community

  • Working to acknowledge and represent all members of the community

  • Assisting in fundraising

The Parent Association is coordinated by the Parent Association Council (PAC), a core leadership group of officers. They are joined by a large network of volunteers including Room Representatives and event chairs. PAC meetings are open to the full community.

The Parent Association is involved in many aspects of the school. Special events sponsored by the Parent Association include annual traditions such as the Heritage Festival, Art Festival, Faculty/Staff Appreciation Luncheon, and End-of-Year Celebration.  The Parent Association also looks for opportunities to provide enrichment programs and special classroom resources if funding is available. Parent Association fundraising efforts raise funds to support these activities. Parent volunteers provide additional support by assisting with many school-sponsored functions such as the Book Fair, Open House, and the Auction; serving as members of Board committees; and participating as volunteers in the library and administrative offices.

None of these events and activities could happen without the support of our community, and we encourage every family to take advantage of the many ways to get involved. At a minimum, we ask that each family participate at some level in:

  • Providing class snacks (Meadows Building only)

  • Driving for field trips

  • Driving for swim days (for those classes that participate)

  • Procuring items for the Auction

  • Assisting with a class project for the Auction

  • Staffing a class booth for the Art Festival

  • Supporting the fall Magazine sale fundraiser

In addition, we encourage each parent/guardian to consider being a chair or committee member of at least one other event. Participation in the Parent Association provides opportunities to learn more about The Little School, to meet other families, and to contribute to the school.

All Parent Association activities are governed by the Parent Association Bylaws, which provide a detailed description of the Parent Association and its operations.
