What to Bring:

Potluck: We invite you to bring food to share after performances!

  • Please fill out and bring one food card per dish (available at morning turnaround on Tuesday, January 16, or by the front desk). Download your electronic copy of the food card (to be printed on 8.5” x 11” paper.)

  • Bring any serving utensils you will need and label all items with your full name. The potluck will begin at 4:15 p.m. after student performances.

  • Hot foods are welcome. TLS will have surge protectors available. Families must bring their own heating elements for hot foods. Please RSVP here if you are planning to bring hot foods.

Attire: We encourage you to dress in attire that makes you feel the most celebrated! For some, this might mean wearing traditional clothing that is used during cultural celebrations. For others, this might mean wearing something that feels meaningful to you, such as a necklace passed down through generations. Please also dress comfortably and in layers for warmth, the event will be both indoors and outdoors.

  • Musical performances will begin promptly at 3:15 p.m. Upon arrival, Choir students will immediately meet on stage.
  • Please check in through the entrance to the Rivers Building. Blank name tags and food cards will be available as needed.
  • A dedicated staff member will be available to assist our families in locating a suitable spot to place their food.

Creating a Safe and Fun Experience:

To make this event a safe and fun experience, we would appreciate your support with the following:

  • Provide attentive supervision for your child(ren) throughout the event. Being mindful of our shared spaces will not only enhance everyone's experience but will also assist our cleanup team, ensuring that our teaching spaces are ready for Monday.
  • Let a staff member know if you are bringing foods containing nuts or fish. To support community members with allergies, we will have dedicated tables available for foods containing nuts and will be noting which dishes contain fish.
  • Do not mix serving utensils. Families are encouraged to bring their own serving utensils to prevent cross-contamination, especially for those with food sensitivities or allergies. If a serving utensil is needed, please notify a staff member.

Thank you for keeping our gathering safe for everyone!

Talking Points for Kids:

Wondering how to share your family’s culture, heritage or traditions? As you and your family prepare for the event, reflect on questions like:

  • What does your family celebrate, and how?
  • What elements in your gatherings feel important and why? (E.g. Values, beliefs, norms, symbols, language, rituals)

  • What does your family appreciate about school, family or friend celebrations?

  • How does your family invite or show care for others during celebrations with large gatherings?

While exploring our student art pieces during the potluck, families will find artist statements and additional reflection questions to consider.

Additional Information:

  • Photo Booth located in the Rivers Front Patio.
  • Quiet Room available in the Rivers Staff Lounge.
  • Additional Open Areas available in the Commons with room to spread out around space heaters and a tent.

Get ready to immerse yourself in a celebration of diversity and unity at The Little School. See you there!!
