Global Cultures Celebration

Parking at TLS is limited. To reduce our carbon footprint and maximize parking space, please consider carpooling. Let’s actively live out our mission towards sustainability and take advantage of this fantastic opportunity to connect with others!

Upon arrival, TLS parking monitors will help you find a parking spot at TLS or one of our Event Overflow parking lots.

Potluck: We invite you to bring food to share after the performances! 

• Please fill out and bring one food card per dish (available at morning turnaround or at each food station during the event.)

• Bring any serving utensils you will need and label all items with your full name. 

• Hot foods are welcome. TLS will have surge protectors available. Families must bring their own heating elements for hot foods. 

• Beverages are welcome. Hot and cold cups will be available at the beverage station.

• Additional information will be shared closer to the date of the event.

Attire: We encourage you to dress in attire that makes you feel the most celebrated! For some, this might mean wearing traditional clothing that is used during cultural celebrations. For others, this might mean wearing something that feels meaningful to you, such as a necklace passed down through generations. Please also dress comfortably and in layers for warmth, the event will be both indoors and outdoors. 

Musical performances will begin promptly. Upon arrival, please check in at the entrance to the Rivers Building. TLS staff will help direct performing students to their respective spaces (Choir students will have assigned chairs at the front of the gym. All other students can sit with their families.)

If you are bringing food to share at the potluck, dedicated staff members will assist you in locating a suitable spot to place your food! Each food station (Art room, Environmental Education room, and Rivers Breezeway) will have blank food cards and additional serving utensils available.

• Provide attentive supervision for your child(ren) throughout the event. Being mindful of our shared spaces will not only enhance everyone's experience but will also assist our cleanup team, ensuring that our teaching spaces are ready for Monday.
• Let a staff member know if you are bringing foods containing nuts. To support community members with allergies, we will have dedicated tables available for nut-free foods. 
• Do not mix serving utensils. Families are encouraged to bring their own serving utensils to prevent cross-contamination, especially for those with food sensitivities or allergies. If a serving utensil is needed, please notify a staff member.
• Complete your food card carefully. Food cards will contain options for families to indicate any allergens their food may have.

3rd through 5th Grade:

• What aspects of our backgrounds and cultures have you observed coming together?

• What happens to music or art when its people migrate? 

1. Will the musical performances be recorded and shared? Yes, the musical performances will be recorded, and both photos and recordings will be shared with the TLS community on password-protected platforms after the event. Stay tuned through Happenings!

3. How can we share information about recipes or restaurants with each other? Attendees can choose to include their contact information on their food cards. If you encounter food that resonates with you, snap a photo of its corresponding food card and reach out to the contact listed!
