We are ecstatic to share with you the new website for the Campaign for a Big Future! Take a look at the site to see all the details of the work that is being done – why it's happening, what it will do for our school and our programs and how it's unfolding.
Just as this project will do amazing things for our community, we need our community to come together like we never have before. Thank you to those who have already helped us raise over $3.2M of the the $4.5M needed! We invite each and every member of our community to join us in supporting this bold vision for The Little School.
We invite Woods & Cedars families to join us tomorrow from 8:30-9:30 a.m. in the faculty/staff room to share coffee and conversation as parents working to build connections and brainstorming about what else we can do to strengthen our TLS community. Meadows families who were unable to attend this morning are more than welcome to joins us, too! Please park at the church and ride the shuttle. It would be great to see you there!
It is with gratitude and well-wishes that we announce Jose, our Director of After School Programs, has taken a new position and his last day with The Little School will be on Friday. During his time here, kids have been met with invitation and respect, and it has been a joy for him to connect and partner with all of our TLS families. Please join us in thanking Jose for all the care and thoughtfulness he has brought to our school!
As we say goodbye to Jose, we are excited to welcome Ray Castillo as our new Director of Afterschool Programs. Ray joins us with over 15 years of experience working with and directing after school programs and brings a deep commitment to this important part of our school. Ray will be joining us here at TLS when school starts back up after Thanksgiving Break. Please email Ray or call him at 425-827-4609 ext. 119 starting on Monday to sign up for Extended Day, Enrichment classes or with other questions about our after school programs.
For current parents/guardians of TLS students, there is a special application process for siblings who are ready to enter TLS in the 2020-2021 school year.
The deadline to submit a sibling application for the 2020-2021 school year is coming up on Wednesday, December 4. Log on to our online application portal Ravenna to complete a sibling application. Early sibling admission decisions will be released in January before our regular March 20 admissions decisions.
There are also still a few openings left for the 2019-2020 school year. If you are interested, please email Regan to learn more about the mid-year enrollment process. We look forward to receiving your applications!
Please join us for Family Night and our annual Book Fair on the afternoon of Friday, December 6. Family Night is a great opportunity for your child to show you around the classroom, explore their learning spaces together with you and have some time to interact with your child's specialist teachers.
The Book Fair will be open from 2:45-7 p.m. in the library while Family Night is happening. We will have new children’s books on display for purchase during this event with all proceeds going toward new books for our library.
Below is the schedule for Family Night with classrooms open for students with their families:
- Early Childhood Classes – 3:30-4:30 p.m. (Kristin, Mandy, Mem, Miss Jackie and Cindy W.)
- Primary Classes – 4:30-5:30 p.m. (Jackie H., Taira, Alison and Cindy S.)
- Intermediate and Upper-Level Classes – 5:30-6:30 p.m. (Michele, Amanda, Katie and Heidi)
If you have any questions about the event please email Alice.
The admissions season for next year has started! We know that most prospective families hear about TLS from someone they know. If you have any friends or colleagues with school-aged children, please considering sharing our two upcoming admissions events with them:
- Prospective Parent Coffee: Friday, December 6 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. in the Meadows Center Room
- Open House: Saturday, January 11 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m.
As we head into winter, it is a good time to share our communication protocol for school closure due to snow or other unforeseen circumstances. School closure decisions are typically made available by 6 a.m. each school morning. We generally follow Bellevue Public School closure and late start guidelines.
Signing up for FlashAlert offers the option to get closure notices directly to your phone via email or text. We also place closure notices on the TLS website, the school’s main phone line (425-827-8708) and with local TV stations. Please sign up at FlashAlert to get the alerts sent directly to your email, or download the app on your phone to receive text alerts for Android or iPhone.
