Monday morning you are invited to come to Pastries with Peter in the LLC Lounge from 8:45-10 a.m. Across the country there are important ongoing conversations about the role of school in building safe and inclusive communities. This conversation, happening here at The Little School as well, seems particularly important given the divisive nature of the recent political campaigns to make clear that that physical, social and psychological safety is at the core of our work with your children and with you. Please come – not for a political discussion but a conversation with Greta Huntley, other parents/guardians and me focused on ways we can work together, school and families, to build and maintain a school community that is open, welcoming and inclusive. All Little School parents/guardians are welcome. There will be tasty pastries, hot coffee and a good healthy discussion. Hope to see you there. Peter
The deadline for siblings of current TLS students to submit an admission application is Wednesday, December 7. All applications are handled online. A sibling applicant play date will take place on Wednesday, December 14 for all siblings who have applied for admission. Contact Barb Cartmell with any questions.
Make plans to join us for Family Night on Friday, December 9 from 6-7 p.m. This is a great opportunity for your child to show you around the classroom and to share their space with you. You can also spend some time connecting with other students and families in your child’s class. There is no set agenda, so feel free to visit the classroom for the amount of time that makes sense for your family. The Book Fair will be open until 9 p.m., so be sure to set aside time for that as well.
The Little School library will be transformed into a bookstore for our annual Book Fair. Classes and parents are welcome to browse the offerings during the school day on Friday, December 9, and books are available to purchase from 3-9 p.m. and on Saturday, December 10, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. All proceeds go to purchase materials for the library, so be sure to invite family and friends to shop as well.
Save the date and get ready to Turn the World Around! The Little School Auction will be held Saturday, March 18, 2017 at the Redmond Marriott. We’ll gather as a community for an evening of celebration in support of the the important work we do at The Little School to provide our students with the tools to Turn the World Around.
A great group of volunteers met at Monday's Kick-Off, eager to make this year's auction the best one yet. There are lots of ways you can help make that happen. Take a look at the auction page for more information, or contact Becky Dolan or Auction Chair Kendra Petkau at email@example.com.
At times families get in a jam and would like short-notice drop-in access for Extended Day. We would love to be able to say yes to this type of request, but most days we are at capacity in terms of space, staffing and licensing requirements. Autumn will do her best to accommodate last minute requests, but please know that this is possible only sometimes and is dependent on prearranged attendance for Extended Day. It might be good to create a pick up partnership with a classmate’s family for just these sorts of last minute pick up needs. Please let Tammy in Student Services know in writing if you create a backup plan partnership so we can release your child to the right family.
The winter session of Enrichment classes are scheduled for January 9-March 31, 2017. Information about the class offerings and how to register will be shared after Thanksgiving break.
As you begin to make preparations for all the get togethers and celebrations over the next few months, let your shopping help support TLS. Use The Little School's link to Amazon.com, which can be found anytime on the TLS homepage, for making your purchase, and 5-13% of most of your purchases will come back to support the school. Encourage your family and friends to use the link as well. It really adds up! And if you shop at PCC, stop by the Admin Building to pick up a PCC Scrip Card; it's just $10 and preloaded with $10 on it. Use it at PCC and refill there as needed, and 5% of those purchases come back to the school as well. For more information, take a look at our Giving page or email Becky Dolan.
