Slack is a messaging app that enables you to connect with other parents and guardians in The Little School community. You can communicate with a group of people, much like Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp.
Having all members of our parent/guardian community sharing one platform will allow for the building of community with parents in your child's class and throughout the school. By being part of The Little School Community Slack, you are agreeing to comply with the Slack Communication Norms, a set of guidelines for how we communicate in a generative and caring manner with one another.
Here are just a few ideas of what you can do on Slack to build community at TLS:
- Organize a virtual play date.
- Plan a Parents' Night In for after the kids have gone to bed.
- Share parenting strategies.
- Get creative about class project ideas.
- Start a book club, recipe exchange or outerwear clothing swap.
Slack is not the place for discussions or feedback about teacher or school decisions. Those conversations should happen privately between an individual and the school. If you have a question or concern about classroom or school matters, please reach out directly to the appropriate staff member. Their email addresses can be found in the Faculty & Staff Directory, or you can refer to the Communication section of the Family Handbook to find the correct contact for a given topic. When in doubt or for help connecting, contact Becky Dolan via direct message in Slack or email email@example.com.
